The Studio at Central Market House opened in October 2002. Artists, Melissa Grove of Sweet Melissa's Dream, Susan Craver and Bethany LaForge of Open Eye Adornments, and Michelle Strine of Personal Space Mosaics, who had all been market vendors, combined their efforts to become The Studio at Central Market House. The Historic home that became The Studio was purchased by the Market and offered to them as a store front.
In July of 2004, Andrea became one of their partners. In the fall of 2005 Andrea and the gang relocated The Studio to 38 North Beaver Street, increasing our space and gaining a large store front window. The Studio at Central Market House was renamed- The Studio and Art Bar as we added a DIY art workshop and had moved from the Market. At the end of the year 2 of our partners decided to leave us for personal reasons.
Michele and Andrea decided to carry on and expanded their artist base by bringing in more artists work! At the end of 2006 we needed to move- YET AGAIN and closed up shop at 38 North Beaver Street, opening a booth in the Central Market for 3 months, until our new location would be ready.
In March of 2007, Andrea and Michele opened up shop at 29 North Beaver Street in a 1700 sqft show place! The New shop is BIG and BRIGHT, complete with 15 foot high gorgeous tin ceilings! We are proud to call it home. At last count, we carried the work of 30+ Artists and Artisans. All of the artists must be "juried in" by Michele and Andrea for Quality and such. The Studio can be found at 29 North Beaver Street; York, PA 17401. Hours are Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday from 10am to 4pm and Saturday from 9am to 4pm, First Fridays until 9pm or later- other hours are by chance or appointment. All of the artists at The Studio offer art classes. From Fiber Arts, Mosaics, and Cigar Box Purse making- we teach a variety of techniques. Call to inquire 717-718-0907.
